Milliman was recently commissioned by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association to calculate total cost of care (TCC) benchmarks for commercial large group preferred provider organization (PPO) health plans, using historical medical claims and enrollment data from Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) organizations and the Merative MarketScan database. This white paper presents TCC benchmark results as medical allowed per-member-per-month (PMPM) amounts. The report includes sections on the following:
